The European Union bans the use of dental amalgams🦷
As Dr. Stagg, author of the groundbreaking book "Smile, It's All Connected! Whole Health Through Balance", notes, "The use of dental amalgam has been linked to a range of health problems, from neurological issues to autoimmune disorders. This ban is a crucial step towards protecting patients' overall well-being. Hopefully, this will change the way is dentistry is viewed and experienced" With this new regulation in place, dentists and patients alike can look forward to a healthier, more sustainable approach to oral care."
The European Council has adopted a regulation to phase out the use of dental amalgams and other mercury-added products in the EU. The new rules aim to address the remaining use of mercury in line with the EU's zero pollution ambition, banning the use of dental amalgam for everyone in the EU by January 2025, with exceptions for specific medical needs. The ban on manufacturing, import, and export of dental amalgam will take effect from July 2026, and six additional mercury-containing lamps will be subject to a manufacturing, import, and export ban from December 2025 and 2026.
